what is the purpose of this ongoing thread? I'm sure many of us would agree (
or like to think) that the idm scene approaches diversity better than many
other scenes. I'm sure many of us would also agree that certain aspects of the
idm scene can be tactless and objectifying in their use of culturally specific
sound references. I'm sure many of us also recognize that diversity is *not*
universality. Music's interpretation and acceptance is reliant upon context,
and it is apparent that even among the members of this list we have a wide
range of contexts being represented to varying degrees. uh... are we surprised?
